Energy Kinesiology
"Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate." - Carl Jung
If you have the unpleasant task of telling someone some bad news, what’s the first thing to say to them? “Maybe you had better sit down…” Why sit down? We know instinctively that the impact of stress on the body, in this case receiving some bad news, often involves a momentary loss of muscle control and if we’re standing up we might collapse and get hurt. Our muscles react to stress!
Muscles react to the world by turning “on” or “off.” I may need only a small percentage of my muscle fibers to turn on to pick up a pen from the table, but those that fire are totally on. If I’m going to pick up an Acme anvil, I will need more muscle fibers. And they will be totally on. Think of a room with twenty lamps in it. If you’re reading a book in one corner of the room you may only need to turn on one or two lamps. But if you’re playing a board game with friends you will need more light, so you turn on more lamps and the room gets brighter.
So a small amount of pressure exerted on an arm or leg in a particular position will likely show that the arm or leg is strong. If you introduce a thought or activity, maybe have the person do some math while you exert the pressure, if that process is stressful to the person, the previously strong muscle may now seem to be weak! What happened? The level of stress of that activity or thought was “moderate to severe” and that threshold of stress was reflected by the lack of muscle strength. The stress made a strong muscle weak.
This is the basis of Energy Kinesiology. Using the muscles’ natural tendency to react to stress with weakness allows us to get all kinds of valuable information about the state of the body and how best to help it move back toward balance.
This is information directly from the source. While intuition and the skill of perceiving the subtle energies of the body are very useful, it’s the body itself that gives us the authoritative view of the situation. This is a trustworthy source!

Flower Essences and Essential Oils
“Nature hath no goal, though she hath law.” - John Donne
How many of us get enough time in Nature? Not many I’ll bet! And yet, She is our sustaining force. Author and teacher Martín Prechtel refers to this relationship as our “mutual indebtedness.” Nature provides us not only with food, shelter and clothing, but with remedies and medicines that help us maintain our balance. It’s important to remember that we have an obligation to ask permission to use plants, not simply take what we want. They are alive and deserve our respect.
One way that we can look at plants and how we use them therapeutically is by the frequency we are using based on its preparation:
Herbs — the physical material of the plant in an infusion or decoction. The densest (physically) of the preparations. Great for physical ailments especially and can also affect the nervous system which in turn can affect mood.
Essential Oils — the volatile oils extracted from the plant. You can see that this form is less “dense” than the whole plant or any part of it. Oils have impact on the physical body, usually based on their frequency or “speed” of vibration. For example, Birch is a “slower” oil and may have an affinity for the bones, whereas Rose is a “faster” oil and has an affinity for the heart, the emotions, and what the Chinese call “the Shen.” Some oils have properties that approach the spiritual realm as well.
Flower Essences — this is the “essence” of the plant imprinted into the storage medium of water. Some people use the plant to infuse the essence into the water, some simply “invite” it into the water while leaving the plant intact. Flower essence author Gurudas describes flower essences as “the process of transference of consciousness from the natural world to the human system.” This faster vibration addresses emotions, mood, thoughts and spiritual experiences.
Homeopathic preparations — Fastest of all, these preparations of plants (and animals) move through all levels of human experience, even potentially intergenerationally.
I am neither trained as an herbalist nor a homeopath so while I may use both in tending to myself and my family, I do not use these in my work with clients. I do, however, use many different essential oils and flower and vibrational essences. I find that these two preparations add enormously to the energy work and can even reveal an aspect of the issue of which the client was previously unaware. They are also powerful as homework! Energy testing allows the body to select exactly the vibration it’s looking for in the situation.
Tuning Forks
Just as plants can be potent helpers for changing limiting patterns, sound, too, can have a big impact. Applied Physiology tuning forks, created to resonate with the meridian system, can amplify and deepen corrections, as can forks tuned to the frequencies of the organs themselves.
TRE
TRE®: the Tension and Trauma Releasing Exercises
TRE® provides a safe, simple way to discharge stress from the nervous system. It gives the body a way to “let go” of shock and stress on a regular basis, relieving habitual contraction in the muscles and heightened reactivity in the nervous system.
What is TRE®? Created by Dr. David Berceli as a result of his work with populations around the world affected by the severe stresses associated with warfare and natural disasters, TRE is a simple technique to initiate Self Induced Therapeutic Tremors (SITT). The simple act of tremoring in a safe environment with good self-regulation allows the nervous system to release muscular tension and calm itself. This simple, safe act of completion does not require one to re-experience the stressful events in order to release them. Big plus! And an even bigger plus is that you can learn the process after a couple of sessions and be able to practice at home on your own on a regular basis. This gives you a great tool to manage the ongoing stresses of life.
The session will typically take 65-75 minutes or can be included in a 90 minute energy session.

Tarot Readings
“Divination’s 'accuracy' is not about seeing precisely into the future, but into all that makes up the present moment — for this is where you impact the future in meaningful ways!” - Divyaa Kummar
I began my dance with the Archetypes early in life, so when I was introduced to the Tarot in 1988, it felt like a “natural language” for me, even though I didn’t want it! Did. Not. Want. It. I had two young children and had finally opened my energy kinesiology practice. I was T-I-R-E-D! I did not — NOT — NOT — NOT want another big area of learning to grab ahold of me! Oh well.
No regrets. The Oracle has continued to supply me with an ever deepening relationship to the Mystery that feeds me in ways I can’t describe. It has given me yet another language of Energy that has added strength and meaning to my experience of the world and the events of my life. This is what I offer you: to step into a world alongside this one so that you can see with new eyes, hear with new ears, and know the process of your life as an ever- unfolding creative stream.
The Tarot as I use it is not, I REPEAT NOT, “fortune telling.” It is a language of energy to describe the qualities present in a situation, often qualities of which you are not consciously aware. Gaining that awareness can shift your perspective, reveal new skills or resources, provide a timely warning or reaffirm your own intuitive understanding about what is happening.
Tarot readings may be done in person or via Skype or Zoom and in general, last 60-75 minutes. The cost is $125 per reading.
Mentoring
“It is the mentor’s responsibility to create a safe and trusting space that enables a mentee to stretch and step outside their comfort zone, take risks, and show up authentically.” ― Lisa Fain
A crucial part of expanding your understanding of any field is mentoring. Whether you are a seasoned practitioner, a new practitioner, a student, or simply someone interested in guidance about health and wellness issues, mentoring can provide direction and insight.
There are many ways to arrange mentoring. Here are some possibilities. A quick question (15 min): $35, 30 mins: $55, 45 mins: $75, 60 mins: $95. If you would like to arrange for mentoring for a group of up to 5 people, just add an additional $10 to the regular fee for the allotted time. For example, three people who want a 30 minute mentoring session would split $75 three ways.
